-
Arabic market
PC sales in 2000 were estimated to 2 million.
Dramatic
improvements in communication technologies and the advance of the
Internet have enabled all business to have global reach. Arabic
market is not separated from the international market by any mean,
on the contrary, it is an integral part of it.
The Arabic world is one of the most powerful buying areas world
wide, but linguistic and cultural differences remain a major barrier
to business. So only localized products can take full advantage of
market opportunities.
Nowadays, big
computer companies are more interested in the Arabic market.
Examples of these big names are Microsoft, Oracle, Lotus, IBM, NCR,
ICL, Novell, Unisys and others. We
can see how it makes difference when we realize that Microsoft sales
of Arabic versions in Egypt (the native language in Egypt is the
Arabic Language) is 90% versus 10% of English versions.
